The Four Great InventionsIn ancient Chinese times, the Chinese had invented many great things. Some of the greatest included the Four Great Inventions. These inventions have been improved since their original prototypes. The inventions are the compass, gunpowder, paper-making and printing and are celebrated in Chinese culture for their historical significance as they are symbols of ancient China's advanced science and technology.

For most of China's history, the compass remained as a magnetic needle floating in a bowl of water. The Chinese in the Song Dynasty and continuing Yuan Dynasty did make use of a dry compass, though was never as widely used in China as the wet compass. Gunpowder was a very useful discovery. It was used for explosives and also was used for fireworks for celebrating Chinese New Year and other special occasions. Paper-making and printing impacted the world greatly as paper is used in so many important daily life activities. we have improved on printing by using machines to print for us and the material of paper is much more improved.
